TreeGems is currently developing interactive educational content that will enable you to expand your knowledge about the natural and cultural values of our region. At the heart of these courses are “zapisi” — sacred trees that hold a deeply rooted place in folk tradition, religious customs, and the ecological heritage of Serbia.

Through a series of carefully designed lessons and quizzes, participants will have the opportunity to learn about different species of oaks and other tree species characteristic of the Šumadija region, their biological role, as well as their spiritual and symbolic significance. In addition to botanical topics, the courses also cover basic information about the history and culture of the Šumadija district, with a special focus on traditional customs, religious processions, and the importance of collective memory in preserving identity.

The courses will be available in an interactive format, adapted for use on both computers and mobile devices, featuring visually engaging content, maps, photographs, and field-based video material.
